Up early for Moon Knight

If it's Wednesday, as the moon goes down and the sun comes up, I rise to watch the latest episode of Moon Knight.

Up early for Moon Knight

I got up early this morning to watch the latest episode of Moon Knight. Well, that's not entirely true. I've been getting up early lately anyway. But today is a Wednesday, which means the latest episode of Moon Knight has dropped. This week, we got episode 5, the penultimate episode in the series.

Wow, this series is so good. Every couple of episodes it takes a turn I don't quite see coming. Today, I was moved. Like, deeply moved. Again, didn't see that coming.

While actors and creative people on the show were doing press, I heard them say something to the effect of, "it's really a show about mental illness." I was a little dismissive of that when I heard it. The main character has dissociative identity disorder. I knew this from being a fan of the comics. But does that really make it a show about that subject? After episode 5, I get it now. This really is a show about mental illness.

WandaVision had a similar theme, though from a different angle. That show was more about grief and the effect it can have on someone, with a glimpse into the mental state of Wanda. It has been my favorite of the new Disney+ series so far. Until now. Now Moon Knight and WandaVision are right up there together. I can't wait to see if Moon Knight sticks the landing next week.

If you haven't seen Moon Knight yet, go catch up now. Be prepared, though. Episode 5 will really hit you with the feels. And when you least expect it, at that.
